Return of the Blog

Indeed. The blog is back. Apologies for the lack of blogging would have been due long ago so there's no point now. Too bad, oh well. Considered the blog dead over the last month and a half. Today is the rebirth. There is plenty to write about, surely most of it will be lost. Tragic, eh? Today I'll stick to the friday five and a brief plea.

1. When was the last time you laughed?
I was chatting online with Ryan Bacon last night and he cracked me up. Funny, funny guy.

2. Who was the last person you had an argument with?
Kurt. About politics, of course.

3. Who was the last person you emailed?
My boss, Rob. Pretty exciting, eh?

4. When was the last time you bathed?
Yesterday evening.

5. What was the last thing you ate?
Leftover curry fried rice that I attempted to make last night. It was pretty mediocre.

That, was the shortest and easiest friday five ever. Anyway, I have a desperate plea for all MSN messenger users. Microsoft in it's continued disrespect for it's users has decided to ban all 3rd party clients. This is nothing new, AOL did this a few times by changing their protocal, but clients like Trillian and Gaim quickly adapted. However, Microsoft has also threatened to sue. Their underhanded legal tactics combined with overly-broad laws may well force popular messenger clients to abandon MSN support. So, I kindly ask that any users of MSN consider an alternative chat service. Try AIM. If your workplace doesn't allow AIM try jabber. It is supported by Trillian and Gaim, and it's 3rd party friendly. Connecting to jabber is easy. Just download gaim, Tools->Accounts, Add, enter your details and check "register with server". I just signed up and in the window that popped up welcoming me I typed "hi" for the hell of it. I was surprised to receive a response and found myself talking to a real person asking if I needed any help getting started. I highly doubt AIM or MSN provide service like that. Anyway, try it out. My jabber screenname is shadowlurker. You probably won't be able to use MSN to chat with me after the Oct 15 deadline. Anyway, that's all for today, expect more bloggage soon.
