feel free to adjust the volume

I had to not hear it to believe it. Standing in the yard I strained to hear the silence and much to my surprise I nearly did. Only the faintest of notes in the cool night air hinted that neighbors a few houses away were playing music. But, they weren't. The music was being played in our house about 15 yards away from me at floor-shaking volume. It worked. The 2 inch vinyl-core fiberglass soundproofing sheets actually worked.

Inside the room feels like something between a dance club and a padded cell for crazy people. Thick grey material covers each door and window. A custom built sound system takes up every corner of the room. On one wall is a white screen. On the opposite wall is a high definition projector. Between them are couches and pillows.

Who wants to watch a movie?

Something with good sound editing that will be good for testing out the system. And something late at night since we don't have the ventalation complete yet.

thanks kat!

The Matrix was already one of the suggestions being thrown around. Along with Black Hawk Down and maybe even Jurassic Park just for the T-Rex scene.

The Fifth Element would also be good because of the range of pitches used (weird weapons, alien voices, etc) . And Spider-Man could be good but I would prefer to watch the first one.

And Episode I? Tsk, tsk. Not allowed in the room. In fact, just to spite Lucas we broke in the system with the laserdisc version of the original Episode IV. :) We followed this up with E5. The whole room rumbles when a Star Destroyer passes by.

Indeed, and we have a 5.1 setup so the surround sound during the rotating camera effects should be neat.
